Former Chinese language President Jiang Zemin died on Wednesday on the age of 96 of leukaemia and a number of organ failure, Chinese language state media reported.
Jiang died at 12:13 p.m. (0413 GMT) in his dwelling metropolis of Shanghai, the official Xinhua information company stated, publishing a letter to the Chinese language folks by the ruling Communist Get together, parliament, Cupboard and the navy asserting the loss of life.
“Comrade Jiang Zemin’s loss of life is an incalculable loss to our Get together and our navy and our folks of all ethnic teams,” the letter learn, saying the announcement was made with “profound grief”.
