It’s not true.
Just recently,
claimed that: “Like Nessie and Bigfoot, the term ‘late-term abortion’ is completely made up. It’s not true. It is anti-abortion propagandist propaganda that has no medical basis and is meant to confuse people. These denials reveal something positive: the deniers acknowledge that abortion at any stage is not popular. One poll shows that 70 percent of Americans believe that abortion should be limited at least after 12 to 15 weeks into pregnancy, and other polls demonstrate the same consensus on the issue.Planned Parenthood President Alexis McGillThroughout my time as a leader in the pro-life movement, I have worked to educate pro-abortion rights leaders about the beauty of life and the truth about abortion so that we can overcome the differences dividing us.
Psaki has been debunked for her claim that “nobody supports abortion until birth” by many of the members of her party. Ben Cardin (D-Md. Stacey Abrams, former gubernatorial nominee in Georgia; and former Reps. Beto o’Rourke(D-Tex. Tim Ryan (D) and Stacey Abrams (D-Ga.), among others. As a Virginian, I’ll never forget that day our former governor Ralph Northam (D), admitted publicly to the world, as both a doctor and a governor, that he thought it acceptable to leave survivors of botched abortions to die, even though they were born living. Such heartlessness isn’t just rhetorical. In the same year, Democratic Senate leaders in the United States killed a bill which would have mandated medical care for babies born alive after abortions.
I couldn’t believe it back then and I still can’t believe today that seven states, including Washington D.C., have no restrictions on abortion. Pro-life activists discovered the mutilated bodies of five full-grown babies in Washington D.C., possibly victims of illegal partial abortions. Many supporters claim that the WHPA limits late-term abortions because it mentions “viability”. The term “viability” is a very broad concept that can mean anything. According to late-term abortionist Warren Hern “the viability a fetus depends not on gestational ages but the woman’s willingness” to carry it.
Another chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood,
, admitted in a sworn statement before Congress, that “there’s no specific gestational ages for viability.” She added that “there are some pregnancies where the fetus is not viable.” “My practice includes abortions up to the point of viability. As we have discussed previously, this could happen at any time.”
So, late-term abortion is not a myth. Statistics show that it happens dozens of time each day. It is a tragedy that I find deeply disturbing, particularly since for the past ten years, I have led an organization dedicated to ending abortions in the second and third trimesters. Unfortunately, this has not yet happened, despite a majority of Americans believing that they should be banned. name a single limit on abortion they would support. The 10,000 lives lost each year to late term abortions should compel even those who do not call themselves pro-life to join us as we work to end the violence and provide women and children with the resources, love and support they need to thrive.
